From Transcription Factors to Line Attractors: Celebrating 40 years of the Anderson Lab at Caltech
On April 17–18, 2026, colleagues, collaborators, lab members, lab alumni, and friends gathered to celebrate David Anderson's 40 years at Caltech and his 70th birthday. The celebration featured a scientific symposium highlighting four decades of discoveries and mentorship, along with opportunities to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate the Anderson lab community.
The scientific symposium, held on Friday, April 17, showcased presentations from former and current trainees, collaborators and colleagues spanning the history of the Anderson lab. The day concluded with a special alumni dinner, bringing everyone together.
The celebration continued on Saturday with an informal hike in Griffith Park followed by a picnic.
David also marked the occasion by contributing a personal reflection on his scientific journey to the History of Neuroscience series, published jointly by the National Academy of Sciences and the Society for Neuroscience. His essay, written at the invitation of the editors, chronicles his path into neuroscience and his career at Caltech.
